They're here! They're finally have arrived on the sunny U.K. south-coast!
After hearing so many ravishing reviews from the U.S. (and other lucky U.K. places who were fortunate enough
to have them stocked early in their local tescos!), I finally got my hands on the famous

BEYOND MEAT BURGERS!
To be very honest, they did not survive too long - 47 minutes upon coming back from the shops to be precise.
I made them as simple, pan-fried burger patties with standard white buns, smothered in some vegan butter & some Tesco own brand
Free-From vegan (smoked) "cheese" - which we melted on the Grill-setting in the oven for a few min. -
and topped with some fried onions, sliced tomato, a few lettuce leaves, (way too much) vegan mayo & a splosh of ketchup ...
And here's what you've been all waiting for: my
Beyond Burger Review
Availability:
It took a while to bring them over to us in the U.K., but they're now available in bigger Tescos
(vegan / free-from freezer section) across the country!
Price:
A whooping £5.50 for 2 Burgers per 227g pack.
Looks:
They appear very much like the “real deal” when the package is first opened. During the cooking process, the top starts to look
a little “processed” but comes out on the other end - again - pretty much like the real thing!
Smell:
They do smell eerily like meat once cooked.
On a site note: your house will keep smelling like this for a couple hours after frying them!
Taste & Consistency:
I'm sorry to keep repeating myself, but it does come super close to taste like a real beef burger with a nice, smoky aftertaste.
The patty's consistency is quite mince-like – maybe a little like very lean meat, but thankfully without all the nasties!
In a way even a little “fluffy” / light in texture. I found that quite pleasant!
Verdict:
I did quite like it - although it's also very borderline meat-like, which we know can be an issue for many vegans (I'm one of them!).
So if you’re put off by the taste of meat, this may not be a burger for you... It really is crazily meat-like in smell, taste & texture!
Also I found that £5.50 for 2 burger patties is slightly steep - compared especially with the many other options on the market nowadays.
Addmitedly, many other burgers might not taste as amazing - but then again, they are more affordable on a day-to-day basis.
If you looking for a special treat - or to "fool" a meat-eating friend or family member with probably the best vegan alternative to meat on
the market in terms of ready-made burger patties: this is should be your go-to option!
Let me know what you think of the Beyond Meat Burger! Did you like them? How did you prepared them?
What's your verdict?
